Goals from the Cafferky sisters secured 2-15 to 0-5 victory for Mayo over Kildare yesterday (Saturday) afternoon in Ballina to book their place in the All-Ireland Ladies SFC quarter-finals.

The were dominant in the first half, racing into a 0-7 to 0-1 lead inside 18 minutes while at the other end, Kildare were denied by an excellent display by Mayo goalkeeper Laura Brennan.

Lisa netted late in the first half after she got on the end of a great pass by Sinead Walsh as Mayo took a 1-10 to 0-1 lead into the break.

The intensity dropped in the second half from the hosts but there was still no way past Brennan for Kildare. They did tick on points from Neasy Dooley and Roisin Byrne but Mayo finished on high as Sinead Cafferky netted a second goal after she was put through by Aoife Staunton.

Their performance regressed in the balmy mid-day sun as Kildare made three half-time changes and found a new lease of life.
