Eight teams remain in the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup with four attractive quarter-final clashes scheduled this evening.

The pick of the bunch takes place in Dangan as University of Galway and UCD meet.

Both panels are liberally sprinkled with accomplished inter-county players so this promises to be a particularly lively match.

University of Galway, managed by Balla native Maurice Sheridan, will be looking to Mayo's Tommy Conroy and Ryan O'Donoghue for attacking inspiration, while Balla's Conor Dunleavy will be in defence.

UCD, with former Galway star John Divilly in charge, include Mayo duo Rory Brickenden and Sam Callinan, and Roscommon's Daire Cregg in a star studded panel.

UL will host DCU Dóchas Éireann in Limerick. Beaten finalists last year, UL's panel includes Ballina Stephenites' Frank Irwin and Moy Davitts' Cian McHale.

DCU Dóchas Éireann, who have won the Sigerson five times, will be prompted by the in form Mathew Costello and Conor Corbett, while Mayo Gaels Ruairí Keane will start in defence.

Maynooth's tussle with Queens could go the distance too.

Darragh Kirwan continues to impress for club, college, and county, while Eoghan Frayne was prominent in Meath's Allianz Football League opener against Fermanagh.

It has been an encouraging campaign so far for Queens with Luke Donnelly and Matthew Murnaghan key performers.

TU Dublin have been hugely impressive in January with Jack Flynn and Killian McGinnis landing crucial scores. Ballaghaderreen's Cian Hanley is also on their panel.
