Mayo GAA to hear club's appeal against championship exit

Mayo County Board received the club's appeal on Monday evening.

The Hearings Committee of Mayo GAA County Board will sit this week to consider an appeal by Hollymount-Carramore GAA Club regarding the result of their county intermediate championship match with Kilmaine last Friday night.

The crucial Group 4 game ended in a draw, Kilmaine 0-18, Hollymount-Carramore 1-15, which was enough to send Kilmaine through to the championship quarter-finals ahead of Hollymount-Carramore on scoring difference. However, video footage suggests a first-half score awarded as two points to Kilmaine, was kicked from inside the arc so should have counted as one.

A Hollymount-Carramore win would have sent them through to the last eight instead, but as it stands Kilmaine are due to play Kilmeena on Saturday, September 20 having been included in last Sunday evening’s quarter-final draw.

The South Mayo club submitted their appeal to Mayo County Board yesterday evening (Monday).
