Two Mayo men have helped University College Dublin (UCD) reach their first Sigerson Cup final since 2018.

Westport's Rory Brickenden and Ballina Stephenites' Sam Callinan both started as UCD defeated University of Limerick, 2-12 to 1-14 at SETU Carlow last night.

UCD last won the Sigerson Cup in 2018, when Hollymount-Carramore's Stephen Coen captained the Dublin outfit to a 1-13 to 2-9 win over NUIG (now University of Galway).

There were four Mayo men playing for UL last night as Ballina's Frank Irwin kicked 0-3, while Davitts' Fenton Kelly and Mayo Gaels' Jack Fallon were sprung from the bench at half-time. Moy Davitts' Cian McHale was introduced with ten minutes to go.

UCD will now face Ulster University in the final, after they beat Maynooth University 1-13 to 0-11. It will be their first Sigerson Cup final since 2014.
