Mayo club championship roundup: draws galore, a thriller in Aghamore, wins for 'Tubber and Kilti'

The Mayo Club Championship continued this evening with Round 1 Group stage Senior and Intermediate ties getting underway.

What a curtain raiser for the Senior competition Aghamore and Breaffy proved to be; the two sides played out a captivating draw that ended 2-12 apiece. Liam Lavin and Fergal Boland scored goals for the east Mayo outfit while Aidan O’Shea and Liam Irwin scored the goals for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Ballintubber got their campaign off to a win with a two-point victory over Charlestown in a wild and windy Clogher. Cillian O’Connor had the shooting boots on, scoring 0-6 for Ballintubber in an entertaining game.

There was also two stalemates in the Intermediate Championship between Islandeady and Davitts whilst Lahardane and Ardnaree Sarsfields also ended all square.

The Junior Championship began last weekend and saw Bonniconlon and Ardagh win against Ballycastle and Killala respectively. This evening, Kiltimagh began their Junior campaign with a bang with a big win over Kilmovee Shamrocks.
