The identity of the new manager of the Mayo U20 football team could become known on Wednesday night.
A monthly meeting of Mayo GAA County Board is to be held in Castlebar with the U20 football and hurling managerial appointments both on the agenda.
Over the course of the past ten days, former Mayo senior manager John Maughan and former Mayo players David Brady and Keith Higgins were each interviewed for the position which became vacant after Peadar Gardiner ended his reign following Mayo’s defeat to Louth in this year’s All-Ireland semi-final.
A meeting of Mayo GAA’s executive committee took place last night (Monday) but the
understands the Management Appointment Committee (MAC) was not in a position to inform the committee of its chosen candidate.Any appointment would be subject to ratification by county board delegates, which could occur as early as Wednesday subject to the completion of the MAC’s work.
It’s understood that no nominations have been received for the role of Mayo U20 hurling manager.
An update is also expected at Wednesday’s county board meeting on the search for a new Mayo U17 football manager. The closing date for nominations was last weekend.
