Inaugural Ballina area schools camogie tournament a huge success

Last month marked a special milestone as Ballina hosted the inaugural Ballina Area Schools Camogie Tournament on June 17 last.

The event brought together young talent from across the area, with six teams competing in the 3rd/4th class competition and three teams battling it out in the 5th/6th class section.

From the very first throw-in, the skill, teamwork, and determination on display were clear for all to see — as clubmates turned competitors for the day!

In the 3rd/4th Class A Final, Culleens claimed top honours, while Breaffy and The Quay took home the B and C titles respectively.

The 5th/6th Class Final was a thrilling showdown between The Quay and Culleens, with The Quay emerging victorious after a fast-paced, hard-fought match.

The day was more than just about winners and finals — it was a celebration of Camogie, a sport that continues to grow in popularity around Ballina, especially since the formation of Balla Stephenites Camogie Club in 2023. The enthusiasm, energy, and sportsmanship shown by all the players was nothing short of inspiring.

The club is looking forward to making this tournament an annual tradition, giving the future female sports stars the chance to shine and celebrate the sport they love.
