'Greatly missed' - Mayo GAA club pay tribute to stalwart following passing
May he rest in peace.
Davitts GAA have paid tribute to a stalwart of their club following their passing.
In a social post, the South Mayo GAA club said: "There was great sadness in the area Thursday morning when news spread of the passing of Louis Prendergast, a stalwart member of Davitts GAA Club since its formation in 1974.
"A former player, he was a star forward on the team that captured the club's first piece of silverware, the 1975 South Mayo Junior Championship.
"Louis also acted as the club secretary that year. After he finished playing, he became involved in underage coaching and many of the club's players over the years have benefited from Louis' guidance and tuition. He has been a valuable committee member for decades and his creative ideas and sound judgement (not to mention his humour and wit) will be greatly missed in the club.
"We extend our sympathies to Ann, Gemma, Norma, Keith and the extended Prendergast family. Rest in peace, Louis..."
