An outstanding team performance from Geesala saw them crowned Division 5 champions in style, overcoming a spirited Carramore side who battled bravely from start to finish.
Geesala came flying out of the blocks in last Wednesday’s final, showing their intent early on with a series of goal chances. However, Carramore goalkeeper Dylan Burke stood tall, making a string of excellent saves.
In the opening stages, Cathal Barrett Carty and Jayden Cosgrove combined well to create space and openings, with Geesala’s breakthrough coming in the eighth minute when Barrett Carty showed quick feet and fired into the back of the net for the opening goal.
Liam Cosgrove added a fisted point soon after as Geesala’s rhythm grew. Yet Carramore’s defence was putting in an excellent shift. Sean Doyle, Dylan Tuffy, and Kian Ginty worked tirelessly to close down space and make crucial interceptions. Still, Geesala's teamwork was paying off. In the 10th minute, Oisin Cosgrove found the net with a composed finish after slick build-up play through the middle. Cathal Barrett Carty added a classy point before the break to give Geesala a 2-2 to 0-0 lead at half-time.

The second half brought more end-to-end action and showcased the skills of both teams. Barrett Carty continued to impress, pointing just a minute after the restart, followed shortly by another from Oisin Cosgrove. Geesala’s ability to transition quickly and support each other in both defence and attack was a joy to watch. Oliver Barrett, Liam Cosgrove, and Cathal Barrett Carty all tagged on points.
Carramore, to their credit, never gave up. Kian Ginty, Conor Tansey, and Sean Devenney all worked hard driving the ball forward. Their perseverance was rewarded when Sean Doyle calmly slotted over a free after some fine team play to draw the foul.
As the game entered its final stages, Geesala maintained their composure, and one final point from Barrett Carty sealed a deserved win.
