SN Thuar Mhic Éadaigh turned in a polished and efficient display as they claimed an impressive 10 points win over Bohola National School to lift the Cumnann na mBunscol Division 3 Boys title last Tuesday afternoon.
Thuar Mhic Éadaigh controlled much of the early possession, and scores from Dara Ó Cualáin and Conor Breathnach were followed by an excellent goal from Alex Ó Doláin after just four minutes, created by a perfectly judged pass from CJ Breathnach.
To their credit, Bohola responded bravely and struck two frees through James Darcy and Shane McGahon, giving them encouragement that they were still in the contest.
Mindful of the threat of a Bohola rally, Thuar Mhic Éadaigh continued to create chances and struck for two more goals through James Ó Doláin and Dara Ó Cualáin to move into a 3-6 to 0-4 lead by the interval.
Although faced with an 11-point gap, Bohola refused to let the game drift away from them.
The East Mayo outfit attacked the second-half with real intent, and Shane McGahon, proving highly dangerous, hit 1-3 in the opening six minutes to lift the hopes of their loud and committed supporters. However, the Gaeltacht side gradually regained control, and points from James Ó Doláin and Alex Ó Doláin stretched their lead to 3-9 to 1-7 as the Black and White edged closer to a treasured county title.
Bohola kept battling to the finish, but they could not force their way back into the game, though they can take great pride from a wholehearted display.
