Mr. Michael Ring T.D. has confirmed that an additional €67,654 in funding has been allocated to Tourmakeady GAA for the development of their Astro pitch.
Deputy Ring stated: "I am absolutely delighted that this wonderful project for Tourmakeady GAA has been supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. They recognise the value of this project and have provided this additional funding to bring this project over the line."
The South Mayo club, which was founded in 1965, provides facilities for teams from under-8 up to adult level.
Deputy Ring added: "This additional funding support brings the total grant for this project to €285,604. This funding is being approved in recognition of the work carried out by this group in order to promote the Irish language.
"Tourmakeady GAA have worked hard on this project to provide an Astro pitch facility for their club. An Astro pitch is an invaluable asset to a club. I am delighted that their hard work and determination have been rewarded and this project will shortly be a reality."
