Funeral details announced for GAA great John O'Mahony

The funeral details for the late GAA great John O'Mahony have been announced.
Kilmovee native O'Mahony, former manager of Connacht sides Mayo, Galway and Leitrim, is well remembered for guiding the Tribesmen to two All-Ireland football titles in 1998 and 2001.
The former Fine Gael politician, who served as a Senator and TD for the Mayo constituency between 2007 and 2016, also brought success during his time in charge of Leitrim - winning their second-ever Connacht Championship in 1994.
With Mayo, O'Mahony won three Connacht titles and guided the Green and Red to its first All-Ireland final in 38 years during his two tenures in charge (1987-1991 & 2006-2010) of his native county.
O'Mahony will repose at his home in ‘Tower House’, Market Street, Ballaghaderreen on Tuesday (July 9) from 4pm to 8pm and Wednesday (July 10) from 3pm to 6pm - house private at all other times.
Removal will take place on Wednesday (July 10) for prayers at 8pm in the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Cathedral on Thursday (July 11) at 12pm midday. Burial will follow in Kilcolman Cemetery, Ballaghaderreen.
O'Mahony will be greatly missed and remembered with love by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, extended family, the GAA community and his many colleagues and friends.
