Ballina Stephenites forward Frank Irwin produced a man-of-the-match display as UL made it through to the semi-finals of the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup after they defeated DCU 0-14 to 1-10 last night.

Moy Davitts' Cian McHale and Mayo Gaels' Jack Fallon both came on as second-half substitutes for UL, who will now face UCD in the semi-final next week. Fallon's clubmate Ruairí Keane started at centre half-back for DCU.

A devastating second-half performance helped UCD book their place in the semi-finals following a 1-14 to 1-6 win in Dangan over University of Galway.

UCD trailed 1-3 to 0-4 at half-time as Mayo star Ryan O'Donoghue found the net, however John Divilly's side outscored the hosts 1-10 to 0-3 in the second-half, with Luke Breathnach finding the net. Maurice Sheridan's outfit finished the game with 14 men as Galway's Cathal Sweeney received a second yellow card.

The Neale's Tommy Conroy and Balla's Conor Dunleavy also both started the game for University of Galway.

For UCD both Rory Brickenden (Westport) and Sam Callinan (Ballina Stephenites) started for the victors.
