Mayo GAA have published fresh details of the plans for Bohola as they seek expressions of interest for the design team for the project.

The COE is set to include five full-size natural grass pitches with the ‘option’ for an additional 5G synthetic pitch. The proposed clubhouse will include changing rooms, gym and ancillary facilities. There will be a viewing stand with ‘spectator amenities’, internal walkways and landscaped areas and typical ancillary services like car parking, access roads, drainage, lighting and associated siteworks.

Mayo GAA state that the project ‘will provide a high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive training and leadership environment for Mayo GAA, its members, and the wider community’.

The successful tender will provide ‘multi-disciplinary design services up to and including the submission of planning permission’, encompassing architectural and planning, engineering, quantity surveying, cost management and coordination works. The EOI also states that the Bohola project ‘will deliver a state of the art facility’ that meets the following four objectives: provides high quality, accessible training and recreational infrastructure; promotes sustainability through efficient design and nature-based solutions; reflects Mayo GAA’s vision for leadership, inclusivity and community engagement; meets all relevant GAA, Sport Ireland, and planning authority standards.

The deadline for the submission of an expression of interest in January 23 and shortlisted applications have until February 26 to submit their tender. The design team is due to be appointed by March 20 with the planning application submission projected for the third quarter of this year.
