GAA President Jarlath Burns and the association’s Director General Tom Ryan are to attend a snap meeting of Mayo County Board next Monday night, May 26.
Every GAA club in the county has been invited to send either one of its chairperson, secretary or treasurer, along with their county board delegate, to the meeting which is being held in Knockranny House Hotel in Westport.
The purpose of the meeting is unclear, however, Mayo GAA has found itself attracting unwanted attention for its financial affairs in recent months, centred around the amount it is paying on debt accumulated from the redevelopment of MacHale Park and also an investigation by Revenue into outstanding tax liabilities.
Both Jarlath Burns and Tom Ryan are expected to address the delegates at Monday night’s meeting which gets underway at 7.30pm.
