Championship round-up: goalfest across the grounds in Mayo

The following are the results from this evening’s Round 2 games in the Mayo Club Championship, which saw an incredible 38 goals across 11 games.

Senior Group 1

Kilmeena 0-11 Aghamore 0-12

Fergal Boland's injury time winner broke Kilmeena hearts as the east Mayo side came back from six points down to put themselves in a great position to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Group 2

Ballina Stephenites 3-13 Balla 1-8

The defending champions saw off a stubborn Balla with a powerful second half performance as goals from Frank Irwin and Luke Feeney pushed Ballina to an 11-point win.

Westport 3-18 Mayo Gaels 2-11

Three goals in the final ten minutes of normal time by Westport saw off the gallant challenge of Mayo Gaels, with Eoghan McLaughlin instrumental in the Covey's late burst.

Group 3

Knockmore 0-13 Claremorris 0-8

The hosts got their championship hopes back on track with an impressive second half display to see off Claremorris

Group 4

Garrymore 0-13 Castlebar Mitchels 2-7

Mitchels were forced to settle for a draw as a late Darren Quinn free rescued a point for Garrymore, who trailed by five at the break.

Intermediate
Group 1

Crossmolina 2-17 Moy Davitts 5-13

Moy Davitts justified their tags as intermediate favourites as they hit five second half goals to beat Crossmolina.

Group 2

Davitts 3-15 Kiltimagh 1-10

Davitts are in pole position to top group 2 after powering to an 11-point win over Kiltimagh.

Group 3 

Kiltane 1-14 Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin 1-13

The shock of the day saw the Barony boys defeat highly fancied Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin.

Group 4

The Neale 4-14 Burrishoole 4-9

The border boys bounced back from their opening round defeat to defeat Burrishoole in an eight-goal thriller

Junior

Group 1

Kilmovee 0-9 Cill Chomáin 2-7

An impressive showing by Peter Horan wasn't enough for Kilmovee as a goal in each half for the visitors saw them make it back-to-back wins.

Group 3

Eastern Gaels 4-7 Killala 0-6

The hosts picked up where they left off in the previous round as they hammered four goals past Killala.
