Ballaghaderreen-Kilmovee were the toast of East Mayo after narrowly defeating Ballina Stephenites 2-9 to 1-11 yesterday evening to win the Homeland Minor B Championship Final

Ballina edged in front early on through a Conor Mayock two-pointer but Oisin Duffy would score the first of his two first-half goals on 12 minutes with a lovely finish into the bottom corner.

Niall Peoples responded for Ballina with a goal of his own to put them in front but Ballaghaderreen-Kilmovee scored 1-2 without reply before the break, Duffy hitting a piledriver past the Ballina goalkeeper.

Leading by two at the break, they doubled their advantage by the final quarter thanks to former Mayo minor Conor Moriarty and Ryan O'Sullivan.

Conor Mayock kept Ballina in the game and Ballaghaderreen-Kilmovee would finish with 14 men after Declan Duffy was shown a black card late on but despite a two-pointer and '45 by Patrick Carr, Ballaghaderreen-Kilmovee would hold on to clinch the county title.
