Mayo and Kerry could be set for a rematch in London this November.
But don’t worry, the Sam Maguire Cup won’t be on the line!
It will be a challenge game and Sam will still winter in Mayo regardless.
Colm Keys reported in today’s Irish Independent that the two counties are seeking permission for the game at Stone X Stadium, the home of English rugby side Saracens.
It has a current capacity of 10,500 but potential to grow to 15,000 for bigger games.
Last year, there were talks about a possible game between the two counties in London and Mayo GAA have a very good relationship with Premier League side Brentford, whose Operations Manager is Belcarra native Alan Walsh.
Mayo visited Brentford after their win over London in Ruislip and the club congratulated Mayo on their All-Ireland, posting a picture of the Mayo team at the club on their social media channels.
Mayo have strong links in London, through the Mayo Association there and they remained in the city for a training camp in April after their championship win over London. Indeed, Mayo manager Andy Moran visited leading members of the Mayo Association in London not long after taking charge last summer.
The GAA’s Central Council have been asked for permission to play the game with the proposed date being Saturday, November 28.
