Ballina hosts Community Games athletics and family fun day
A fantastic day of sport, fun and community spirit is promised as Ballina Community Games hosts their Family Fun Day and Community Games Athletics Events on Bank Holiday Monday, June 1, at Ballina Athletic Track.
The event will run from 11am to 2pm and promises something for everyone, whether you’re aiming for a medal, cheering from the sidelines or just joining in the fun.
Young athletes from across the area can compete in a wide range of track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance races, long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin, discus, throwball and long puck. Athletics events cater for age groups from under-6 through to under-16.
Alongside the competition events, families can enjoy a brilliant line-up of novelty and participation activities including family novelty races, the red light/green light squid game, pentathlon, eukonkanto (wife-carrying), sports exhibitions including hurling, cricket, ball throw, tag rugby and rounders demonstrations.
To compete in Community Games selection events, participants must: be within the eligible Community Games age categories, live within the Ballina Community Games area catchment, meet Community Games eligibility requirements for representation and enter the relevant Community Games competition events by pre-registration on club zap. All family events can be registered on the day.
The Family Fun activities are designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for everyone, so bring parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and friends along for a great community day out.
Pack your runners, bring your team spirit and join Ballina Community Games for a day full of energy, laughter and unforgettable memories.
