Some sounds are worth waiting a lifetime to hear
For generations of Mayo supporters, there is one sound we’ve dreamed of hearing. The final winning whistle. The roar that followed. The cheers that echoed around Croke Park. And the words we had waited a lifetime to hear: "Mayo are All-Ireland Champions."
Some moments in life are remembered through photographs. Others are remembered through sound. The roar that greeted captain Jack Coyne as he lifted the Sam Maguire Cup. Thousands of supporters singing in unison. The cheers, the tears, the laughter and the applause. Families embracing one another. Friends celebrating together. These are the sounds that become part of our memories forever.
