Boxing: Róisín Sheerin of Swinford Boxing Club recently represented Ireland at Under-15 level at the Four Nations Championships in Scotland, returning home with a silver medal.
Róisín began boxing with Swinford Boxing Club at the age of seven and is now in her eighth season in the sport. Earlier this year she won her first All-Ireland title after previously reaching two national finals.
Following her All-Ireland success, Róisín received an invitation to take part in the Ireland Under-15 box-off selection process. She then attended Ireland Under-15 squad training camps in Dublin and was subsequently selected as one of 10 female boxers chosen to represent the Ireland Under-15 team at the Four Nations Championships in Scotland.
Competing for her country for the first time, Róisín proudly wore the Irish vest at the international tournament, where she boxed England’s Lydia Page in the final and returned home with a silver medal.
The achievement reflects many years of training, support and commitment from Róisín, her coaches, teammates and everyone involved in Swinford Boxing Club.
