Yesterday afternoon, at 3.00 p.m, the Mayo Mountain Rescue team was called out to assist a woman who had slipped and injured herself while descending Croagh Patrick with her husband.
The incident happened on the steps near the summit, preventing her from continuing down the mountain without help.
Two of the former team members, Francis and Dick, were on their way down and stopped to help. They assisted the couple in making their way to the shoulder, called Mountain Rescue for help, and stayed with them until our first responders arrived at 4:30 p.m.
The team provided emergency care before stretchering the woman to a waiting ambulance at our base on the south side of Croagh Patrick.
The Mayo MRT team was stood down at 6:30 p.m.
They wished the woman a speedy recovery and thanked Francis and Dick.
