On Saturday, January 11th, the Park Hotel in Kiltimagh played host to one of Mayo’s most anticipated annual events – the Mayo Four-A-Side Darts Tournament, a fundraiser for Western Care Association.

Now in its 14th year, the tournament brought together 128 players, raising a total of €10,000 for Western Care Association’s services in Claremorris and Castlebar. Local players were joined by darts enthusiasts from outside the county.

Spearheading the event were Martin Heneghan and Joe King, two of the founding members of the original organising committee. Their dedication ensured the tournament ran smoothly and upheld its tradition of excellence.

Dr Mary Boyd, the CEO of Western Care Association, was in attendance to officially open the event and extended her thanks to all those involved.

“We are deeply grateful to the organising committee, volunteers, sponsors, and players for their unwavering support of this event," Dr Boyd said. "The funds raised will make a significant impact on the services Western Care Association provides in the Claremorris and Castlebar regions.”

The competition culminated in an electrifying final between two teams: Andrew Christie, Helen Gannon, Evan Canavan, and Thomas Halloran, facing off against Martin Heneghan, Kenny Cook, Emer McDonagh, and Dillion Kelly.

The final score was 3-2 in favour of the team led by Heneghan and Cook, with Dillion Kelly securing the victory for his team. Marina Reilly picked up the ladies award with a 121 checkout and Andrew Christie landed a remarkable 158 to take the gents award.
