COMMUNITY NOTES: NORTH MAYO - WESTERN PEOPLE (DECEMBER 2 EDITION)

On Saturday, November 15, large numbers of clergy, family, relatives and friends gathered in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, to remember and bid a fond farewell to the late Elizabeth (Betty) Dunne nee Gallagher for her 1pm Requiem Mass with her brother Fr Peter Gallagher as chief celebrant.

Betty, as she was fondly remembered, passed away peacefully following an illness that she bore patiently for over fourteen years, during which time she was lovingly cared for by her beloved family.

Betty was a native of Bonniconlon and a member of a family of seven - three girls and four boys. On her marriage to her beloved husband Oliver they set up home in Rathbane, Knockmore and reared a family of six - five boys and one girl. The couple enjoyed many happy occasions with their family and especially with the arrival of their seven grandchildren, their pride and joy.

Betty will be fondly remembered as a dignified lady who had a kind word to say about everyone. She had a warm welcome for all who called to her home and was dearly loved by her neighbours and friends. Predeceased by her husband Oliver, she is survived by her beloved family her daughter Elizabeth, sons Frank, Andrew, Ollie, Patrick and Tommy, her much loved grandchildren, her brothers Frank, Pat, John and Fr Peter, her sisters Mary and Geraldine, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. She was laid to rest following her Requiem Mass in Ballinahaglish Cemetery.

May she now rest in peace.
