Warm tributes paid to North Mayo man on his passing

The passing of Brendan Blewitt, Runagry, Knockmore, Ballina, has evoked a wide sense of loss across the North Mayo community.

He died peacefully on Friday in the care of the staff of the Mayo Hospice.

There have been glowing tributes to the late Brendan on social media. In a statement, Knockmore GAA Club said: “Brendan was an integral part of laying the foundation for much of Knockmore’s success. His quiet unassuming manner gained him the height of respect within the club.

“He gave many faithful years to making sure that Knockmore GAA reached the pinnacle of the GAA world and his legacy is evident in the example he set for Joseph and Laurita who have now become integral servants of the Club.

“May he be at peace now with his beloved Christina and may his reward be great in heaven.
