Two men (80s) die following fatal house fire

Gardaí are investigating a fatal house fire that occurred in Co. Sligo.

At approximately 11:00am this morning, Sunday 28th December 2025, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the fire that occurred at a residence near Easkey overnight.

Two males, aged in their 80s, were pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Post-mortem examinations will take place in due course, the outcome of which will determine the course of the investigation.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination. 

Investigations are ongoing.
