The Pride of Place Community Awards 2024 took place in Monaghan on November 2. Mayo prevailed with two awards.

Louisburgh won the All Ireland Pride of Place Competition for Small Towns.

Cllr Peter Flynn said in a Facebook post, “I was present for the day of the adjudication in Louisburgh and was blown away by the efforts of so many organisations and people in the area. I left that evening very confident that Louisburgh would be fighting for Gold. The town looked amazing on the day and you could see the efforts everyone made to ensure it looked its best.”

Inishturk was the second Mayo town to be honoured. Inishturk achieved runner-up in the Community Tourism category.

Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr John O'Hara said: “These awards highlight the strength and resilience of our communities in Mayo. The success of our groups here tonight is a shining example of what can be achieved when people work together towards a common goal. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
