Man charged in connection with burglary of Mayo town shop

Gardaí were appealing for witnesses following the burglary of a shop in Foxford, Co. Mayo, in the early hours of Monday, 25th August 2025.

As part of ongoing investigations into burglary and related crimes in north Mayo, an arrest operation was conducted by members of the Ballina Detective Unit on 13th January 2025. 

During this operation, a male in his 40s was apprehended in Dublin City. He was subsequently brought to a Garda Station in County Mayo, where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The individual has since been charged in connection with the investigation and is due to appear before a sitting of Belmullet District Court on Wednesday, 14th January 2026.

Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí were appealing for witnesses following the burglary of a shop in Foxford, Co. Mayo, in the early hours of Monday, 25th August 2025.

Gardaí received a report that at approximately 4:15am two men had forced entry into the premises and fled with a quantity of cigarettes.
