Two drivers caught driving well above the speed limit on Mayo road

Mayo Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checkpoints on the N5 in Charlestown and detected a number of motorists exceeding the 100km/h speed limit, including the following:
A novice driver was detected travelling at 150km/h in a 100km/h speed zone, resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points.
A second novice driver was detected travelling at 138km/h in 100km/h zon,e resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty poin,ts along with an additional 60euro fine for not having a front number plate displayed.
