Speeding motorists detected in Mayo on National Slow Down Day

An Garda Síochána and GoSafe recorded 755 detections for speeding during National Slow Down Day which ran from 7am on Friday to 7am on Saturday last.
During the 24 hours, GoSafe checked the speeds of 163,146 vehicles, and detected 225 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit, while Gardaí conducted high-visibility speed checks and intercepted 530 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit. Among the breaches in Mayo were: 115km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N17 Lurga Upper, Charlestown; 115km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the N5 Ballymiles, Swinford; 109km/h in a 80km/h Zone on the R314 Rathroeen, Ballina.
