Six of twins started first year in the school.
A school in the west had a very unique situation among their first year students.
Six set of twins started Secondary School at St Attracta's Community School in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo.
In a post on social media the school said: "This rare and heartwarming occurrence has brought great excitement to the school community.
"The twelve students have settled in wonderfully and are already making their mark on school life."
In a statement to the Western People, the school said: "In a school with an average annual intake of approximately 125 students, having twelve students from six different twin families in the same year group is a remarkable coincidence and has certainly generated plenty of interest among staff and students alike.
"While the arrival of so many twins is an unusual talking point, it also reflects the strong and growing appeal of St. Attracta’s Community School. Renowned for its high academic standards, excellent teaching and learning environment, and wide range of extracurricular opportunities, the school continues to attract families from across South Sligo and the surrounding region.
"The six sets of twins have settled seamlessly into school life and are thriving as members of a vibrant and ambitious First Year class.
"The twins have quickly become a valued part of the school community. Their presence adds to what is already a special year for St. Attracta’s, a school that prides itself on fostering excellence, opportunity and a strong sense of belonging for every student."
