Achill Island has been revealed as the most Instagrammed location in Mayo, according to new research.

The study, carried out by Virgin Media Ireland, analysed the number of tagged Instagram posts across the county’s most visited sights and attractions. The analysis used the total number of posts to determine the destinations that are most popular with social-media-sharing visitors.

Achill Island claimed the number one spot with 76,348 tagged Instagram posts, securing its position as the county’s most photographed landmark. The popular destination also performed strongly at national level, ranking 20th overall in the Top 50 Most Instagrammable Spots in Ireland.

Known for its majestic mountains, stunning landscapes, and miles of unspoilt Blue Flag beaches, the attraction continues to draw visitors eager to capture the perfect photo.

Other spots analysed included Croagh Patrick, with 62,644 posts, while Downpatrick Head secured third place thanks to 16,882. Following that were Keem Bay and Ballycroy National Park, both long-standing favourites with tourists and locals alike.
