Mayo Roads Policing Unit were on patrol in Westport over the weekend when they detected the novice driver of a vehicle driving without insurance.

- The NCT had expired over two years.

-  A roadside oral fluid drug test was carried out, which indicated the presence of cannabis and cocaine.

- The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized.

The driver provided a blood sample for analysis by the Medical Bureau of Road Safety.

An Garda Síochána Mayo stated: "Driving under the influence of drugs or without insurance puts everyone on the road at risk."
