Public urged to have their say on Mayo town's major project
A local councillor has welcomed progress on the Ballyhaunis Active Travel scheme with a transport study now being prepared by Mayo County Council.
At last week’s Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District meeting, Cllr Alma Gallagher said she wished to thank Cathy Mellett from Mayo County Council’s Active Travel team and her fellow staff members for bringing the plans for an Active Travel project in Ballyhaunis to this point.
“There is great anticipation surrounding this in Ballyhaunis and it is hoped that it will create a pipeline of projects for the town. There was huge disappointment regarding the €200,000 set aside for the N60 that was decommitted but this plan will support a host of projects,” she said.
Cllr Gallagher encouraged all locals to become involved in the early engagement phase of the transport study that is currently ongoing.
“The people of Ballyhaunis are going to row in behind this process and this presents a great opportunity for us,” she said.
All documents related to the Ballyhaunis Transport Plan can be accessed at consult.mayo.ie and the closing date for submissions is Wednesday, April 1.
