As part of An Garda Síochána's ongoing Road Safety Christmas Campaign, Mayo Roads Policing Unit were on patrol yesterday when their attention was drawn to a vehicle in Charlestown.

On further inspection, Roads Policing detected the following Road Traffic breaches:

- Expired learner permit holder.

- NCT expired two and a half years.

- No Tax.

- Bald Tyre(space saver) on vehicle for a number of weeks.

- One working highlight/dip beam.

- Broken wing mirror.

- Front Brake pads missing / no brake fluid in reservoir.

- Driver stated was using the handbrake to slow the vehicle down.

Roads Policing seized the vehicle as it was suspected to be dangerous/defective. A PSV examination of the car will now take place. 

Court Proceedings will also follow.
