Motorist detected holding mobile phone while driving on busy Mayo road

Mayo Roads Policing Unit stopped a van on the N17 after the driver struggled to stay in their lane and were discovered to be texting while driving.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated, "Distracted driving is defined as any behaviour that diverts a driver’s attention from the road. If you are detected holding a mobile phone while driving, you will receive a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) of €120 and 3 penalty points on your driving licence."
They added, "Please remember, no message is worth risking your life or someone else’s."
