Mayo's voting preferences revealed as Family referendum is rejected by voters

Mayo is among the constituencies with the highest percentage of No votes in the family referendum, which was rejected by 67.5% of voters.

75.5% of voters, or 31,565 people in Mayo voted No to changing the wording of Articles of the Constitution relating to the family.

10,217, or 24.5% voted yes.

There was a turnout of 43.4% in Mayo, just below the national average turnout of 44.4%.

In the seven constituencies within Connacht and Ulster, 205,629 people voted no (74.4%) while 70,823 voted yes (25.6%).

Counting has been completed in all 39 constituencies on the 39th Amendment Referendum and it has been rejected by voters.

The Care referendum is likely to be defeated with counting now underway.
