Mayo woodlands project goes to tender
Progress on the project has been welcomed.
The Cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District, Cllr Donna Sheridan has welcomed news that the Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme in Balla is to go to tender.
Clle Donna Sheridan says its hoped a contractor will be appointed by the end of August.
Additionally works have been completed on the courthouse building to create a community and enterprise hub.
The Town And Village Renewal Scheme provided funding of €120,000 toward these projects with Balla CRD providing €4000 and Castlebar Municipal District providing €10,250.
‘The work on the courthouse building is now completed and will open very soon. This is a fantastic edition to Balla. I am delighted to see that the Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme going to tender. I met with residents some time ago and it was agreed we need to do major work on this area,” said Cllr Sheridan.
Many thanks to the residents committee in Woodlands, Balla CRD and Balla Tidy Towns for their help with this and to the David, Pat, Philip and all the team in the Castlebar MD for all their work on this project. The layout of the scheme was designed and changed based on two consultation meetings with local residents in Balla,” she added.
