Dublin City University (DCU) recognised undergraduate students for their academic achievement in last year’s Leaving Certificate at the DCU Scholars Awards in The U Student Centre, Glasnevin Campus on Thursday.
Among them was Beth Fair, a former student of St Mary's Secondary School in Ballina who is now studying engineering at the college.
Beth and the other students were recognised for achieving more than 600 points in the Leaving Certificate exams. The recipients hail from 19 counties across Ireland and represent the university’s five faculties: the DCU Business School, the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Health and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.
Speaking at the ceremony, DCU President, Professor Dáire Keogh told the awardees:
“I am delighted to congratulate the recipients of our Scholars Awards. I am proud that these exceptional students have chosen to study at our University. They represent the talent of their generation and the future of our country.
"They will relish the academic challenges and opportunities of University life and we will support them to achieve their dreams," Professor Keogh added.
