Mayo GAA still none the wiser on Revenue debt

Mayo GAA has yet to receive confirmation of what money it will owe Revenue whose Level 2 Risk Review remains ongoing.
Mayo GAA County Board appears no closer to discovering just how much money it owes to Revenue, with chairman Seamus Tuohy not in a position to offer any update to delegates at last Wednesday’s monthly meeting. But there was an interesting differing of opinion as to just when Revenue might have an answer for them.
At County Convention in December, it was explained that the board, in agreement with its auditors O’Mara Loftus & Co, would not be signing off on its annual accounts due to the inability to accurately assess potential liabilities arising from an ongoing Level 2 Risk Review for 2018 and 2019 by the Revenue Commissioners and Mayo GAA’s own voluntary review from 2020 to 2024.
“Unfortunately we’ve had very little communication since Convention,” the chairman explained. “We understand that there is communication at this stage between Croke Park and Revenue and basically, we await the outcome of that. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can see some light on it,” said Tuohy.
“It’ll be a lot more than weeks,” interceded Valerie Murphy, Mayo GAA’s treasurer. “You might be talking six months,” she told Tuohy and the delegates.
“But I don’t know. I have no idea of the timeframe. And there’s other stuff going on in the background that obviously does take time,” added Ms Murphy.
