The Business & Finance ESG Awards, in partnership with Grant Thornton, are delighted to announce that Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and renowned climate justice advocate, will be honoured with the prestigious ESG Leader Award at this year’s ceremony. The event will take place on 10th April at the Round Room of the Mansion House, Dublin.
Recognised globally for her unwavering commitment to human rights, gender equality, and climate action, the Ballina woman has dedicated her career to advocating for a more sustainable and equitable world. As Ireland’s first female President and a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, she has played a leading role in advancing environmental and social governance principles at both national and international levels. Through her work as Chair of The Elders and as a leading voice on climate justice, Robinson continues to inspire businesses and governments alike to take meaningful action on sustainability.
Commenting on the honour, Mary Robinson said: "I am honoured to accept the ESG Leader Award at a time when there is significant push back on companies accepting the importance of incorporating Environmental, Social & Governance values to ensure their sustainability. I encourage Irish companies to show that both ESG and DEI (Diversity, Inclusion & Equity), are not only the right thing to do but also good for their bottom line."
Tracey Carney, Managing Director of Business & Finance, highlighted the significance of Robinson’s contribution to ESG leadership: "Mary Robinson has been a pioneering force for sustainability and corporate responsibility, demonstrating how ethical leadership can drive meaningful change. Her dedication to climate justice and human rights has set a global benchmark, and we are honoured to recognise her as this year’s ESG Leader."
