Large quantity of drugs seized at a Ballina premises

Last Friday, Gardaí attached to the MRL drugs unit in Mayo, executed a search warrant at a premises in Ballina.
A large quantity of suspected Herbal Cannabis was seized and will be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland.
Three suspects have been arrested and charged and will appear before the District Court.
Gardaí have said that this seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in 2021.
"The focus of this operation is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute persons involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs," they said.
