One of Ireland’s leading online automotive parts retailers founded by brothers from Mayo has been acquired by Alliance Automotive Group UK & Ireland in a deal said to be worth €9.5m.

Micksgarage.com, founded in 2003 by Ciaran and Mick Crean from Cloghans, Knockmore, has become a leading name in the auto parts industry and a pioneer in Irish e-commerce. The brothers have continued to play a role in their local community with MicksGarage having sponsored the Knockmore GAA team for a number of years.

In a post on LinkedIn, Mick Crean said last Wednesday was the brothers last day in MicksGarage after 23 years.

“Last week MicksGarage was acquired by Alliance Automotive Group and I wish them the very best for the future,” he said.

“I know the business will be in great hands with the level of expertise and massive experience that they bring to the table.”

“There are loads of people we need to thank starting with the incredible people that we have worked with over the years. We have had to rely on incredible people through the highs (and a few lows) along the way and we are so fortunate to have had some of the best.”

He said they will now concentrate on WaveOMS, a unique warehouse management and pick pack software that the Crean’s developed over the years.

“This technology was one of the pillars of our success and maybe it could also help you too,” he said.

MicksGarage.com is now owned by leading distributor of passenger and commercial vehicle parts Alliance Automotive Group UK & Ireland, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (GPC).

Lewis Selby, NAPA Auto Parts managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome MicksGarage.com and its colleagues to AAG. Their strong e-commerce platform, customer focus, and established position in Ireland make them a strong addition to the AAG family.

“This acquisition strengthens our digital capabilities and supports our ambition to offer customers across the Irish automotive aftermarket even greater choice, convenience, and access to quality parts.”
