How Mayo voted: first count is in

The first count is in from the Mayo constituency.

Independent candidate Catherine Connolly, who was backed by a number of non-Government parties such as Sinn Féin, Labour and the Social Democrats, received the majority of first-preference votes in county Mayo with 28,039 votes, 65% of the total.

Fine Gael candidate Heather Humphreys, who earlier this afternoon conceded the election to Connolly, received 11,957 votes in Mayo or 28%.

Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin, who remained on the ballot paper despite withdrawing from actively campaigning, received 2,596 votes in Mayo or 6% of the total.

There was a significant number of spoiled votes nationwide and in Mayo, this figure was 6,311, just under 13% of the total poll of 48,903.

The voter turnout in Mayo for the 2025 Presidential Election was 45.4%.
