No reduction to day services at Mayo hospital

There won’t be any reduction to day services at Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar, it has been confirmed.
There won’t be any reduction to day services at Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar.
Local councillor Michael Kilcoyne said at last week's Regional Health Forum West meeting that there were rumours in Castlebar that the HSE intended to reduce the number of days per week that the day care centre at hospital would open. It is currently open for five days a week.
Chief Officer with Community Healthcare West, John Fitzmaurice, assured Cllr Kilcoyne there is no proposal to reduce the day care services at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Mr Fitzmaurice said the rumours may have started when the service had unforeseen closures for some days with staff unable to attend due to illness and training days, adding:
"There is no intention to reduce the number of days that the day service provides at the hospital."
