Kilcoyne takes up new role on HSE Forum

Mayo public representative Cllr Michael Kilcoyne has been elected chairperson of the HSE Regional Health Forum Committee for the West and Northwest region, vacating his role as vice-chair of the Regional Health Forum. Cllr Kilcoyne was elected uncontested to the committee role for the new term, with Donegal councillor Gerry McGonagle, outgoing chair of the Regional Health Forum, elected as vice-chair of the committee.
At the annual general meeting of the forum on Tuesday last, elections were held for the chair and vice-chair of the Regional Health Forum as well as for the chair and vice-chair of the Regional Health Forum Committee for the new term of June 2026 to June 2027. The Regional Health Forum monthly meetings during the year are held in public, while the committee meetings are held in private. Mayo has four representatives on the 40-member forum, namely Cllr Michael Kilcoyne (Independent), Cllr John Caulfield (Fianna Fáil), Cllr Alma Gallagher (Fine Gael) and Cllr Michael Loftus (Fianna Fáil).
Galway city and county councillor Michael Crowe was elected as overall chair of the Regional Health Forum, with Sligo county councillor Edel McSharry elected as vice-chair, with all positions filled uncontested.
