High hopes that vital medical facility could commence construction this year

It is hoped that the construction of the long-awaited Tubbercurry Primary Care Centre may commence next October.
Sligo-Leitrim Fianna Fáil TD Eamon Scanlon said he has received correspondence from the Department of Health that confirmed that stage two of the project has been completed.
The next stage will see the project go out to tender, and should this process be successful, construction work could commence in the latter months of this year.
Speaking on Ocean FM, Deputy Scanlon said he is hopeful the project could be brought to fruition in the near future.
“This is something that has been ongoing for the last eight or nine years. I remember working on it during my last stint in Dáil Eireann and I have followed up on it since I was elected," he said.
“We have to wait for the approval for funding and that will hopefully be sorted in early 2025. It is moving forward all the time. It is slow but we have to go through all of the processes. I will do all I can to ensure it stays moving forward.
“These primary care centres are fine facilities such as the ones in Ballymote and Cliffoney and there are great services carried out at these locations,” he added.
