Full services at day centres

Full services in two day care centres in Co Sligo are set to be restored in the coming weeks
Full services in two day care centres in Co Sligo are set to be restored in the coming weeks.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Enniscrone Social Day Centre operated on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week, while Easkey Social Day Centre operated from Monday to Thursday each week. Currently, due to staff vacancies, Enniscrone only operates on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Easkey operates on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The issue was initially raised at a meeting of Sligo Co Council by local councillor Joe Queenan.
Cllr Dara Mulvey also asked for a progress update at June’s Regional Health Forum. “These centres get the elderly out of the house and provide a great service,” he said.
Cllr Mulvey has confirmed that the HSE has completed a recruitment campaign and is currently reviewing how many people wish to avail of these services in the West Sligo area, and the costs involved.
He says the HSE hope that services will be fully operational by mid-September.
