Green light for Mayo club's major facilities overhaul
Mayo County Council have granted planning permission for the redevelopment of the club facilities at the home grounds of the three-in-a-row Mayo Senior Football Club Champions.
Ballina Stephenites, founded in 1886, have been given the green light for the series of works that will see various alterations and works taking place at their club grounds on Lord Edward Street in the north Mayo town.
The proposed works include the demolition of the existing external dressing room.
The development works also include the construction of extensions to the existing clubhouse facility at both ground and first floor levels to facilitate a new gym, an internal viewing area and external viewing terrace.
This will result in a combined increase in floor area of 222.8m2. Also included are alterations to all elevations and all associated site works.
Councillor planners recommended granting planning subject to a number of conditions.
