Irish skies are the talk of the country tonight as the picturesque views of the Northern Lights are currently on show.

The Northern Lights, or otherwise named aurora borealis, are the result of "collisions between gas particles in our atmosphere and charged particles ejected from the sun’s atmosphere", according to Met Éireann. This occurrence of the Northern Lights is due to a strong geomagnetic storm that is underway.
